Everyone has got a hobby, something they really enjoy doing. For example mine is writing, and researching. On the other hand some people think that hobbies or hobbies are a way to “kill” time; something when there is nothing better to do. Whatever the case, having hobbies you enjoy are good. And even better, they might be very beneficial to your health and wellbeing.
According to several studies carried out in the United States and published by the WHO, having a hobby is not only good for mental health, but also for health in general.

 

This is because when a person is doing something that he likes or enjoys, his brain secretes more of the so-called “happiness hormones” (such as endorphin and serotonin) and less of those known as “stress hormones”. “-the cortisol is one of them (that contribute to weaken the immune system).

 

As is well known, it is the first defense front of your body against diseases. When it is not strong and functioning optimally, it leaves you vulnerable to all kinds of health problems, from a simple cold to cancer and heart disease.

 

However, beyond the benefits they bring to health. Hobbies such as gardening, reading, embroidery or cooking are a simple, fun and generally inexpensive way to enrich your life. People who live “from work to home and from home to work” discover a new source of pleasure that revitalizes them.

It is even possible to shed a few pounds through dancing… (salsa dancing, definitely).

First, gardening in the morning gives you vitamin D from the sun, which leads to increased calcium level in the body and hence, stronger bones and better health.

6. Lock Picking

Many people are amazed at how characters in movies can open doors with a hairpin or a pick, but not a lot of them know that they can easily learn how to do that too. Lock picking is a mentally stimulating hobby that people who like to work their brain and hands will find rewarding and enjoyable. It’s easy to get started too. You only need a basic lock picking tool set and a couple of practice locks. Then you can learn how to use these tools and different lock picking techniques through free video tutorials on YouTube or guides on the internet. Learning how to pick locks will help keep your brain sharp and your hands agile.
