Bloody nose

We all may have experienced it at some point in our lives, mainly caused by the rupture or damage to the small and fragile blood vessels, either at the front or back part of the nose, the former is called ‘anterior’ and the latter ‘posterior.’

The bleeding is anterior if the blood comes out of one nostril, the good news is that it does not require any medical attention and can be treated at home safely; common causes include, dehydration, cold, and allergies. In some situations, even high altitudes can cause this problem.

The other case, Posterior bleeding indicates a severe injury at the upper septum, either due to high blood pressure or some traumatic critical incident, tumours, or blood-thinning medications. In this condition, the blood flows down to the back of the throat and the mouth. In such a case, one must rush to the hospital immediately.

Posterior bleeding is more likely to be observed amongst older people, whereas the anterior bleeding can happen to anybody and can be treated with home remedies effectively for most of the times.
