Living in an apartment doesn’t mean that you can’t have your vegetable garden. Even though it can’t be as big and as video in variety as a normal garden would, it is still more than possible to have a veggie garden in your apartment. It will not only ensure that you always have the freshest produce in your home, but it will also help you and your family have a healthy diet. There are many other benefits of growing veggies in your apartment. So, if you want to take on this adventure, here is how you can grow your veggies.

Always Start Small

People often get too excited by planting way too many veggies, and they end up dying because they just can’t take care of all of them at the same time. That is why you should only choose a couple of your favourite veggies so you can get the hang of it. Once you get into the routine of growing vegetables, you can expand your palette.

Arrange Your Balcony

You are probably dealing with limited spaces that offer enough sunlight for your veggies to thrive. That is why you should try to arrange your balcony in a way that all the plants have enough space to thrive.

Make Sure That You Are Choosing The Right Pots

Something that you have to pay attention to when you are choosing the pots is that they have proper drainage holes so the plant does not drown. Another thing that you need to consider when you are buying pots is that they are large enough. For example, vegetables like lettuce will need only a pot that is 20 cm, but a tomato will need up to 50 cm of depth to reach its full potential.

They should have at least 6 hours of sun every day so they can grow nice and strong. Look for areas in your apartment that have the most sun and place your plants there. It will make your veggies taste and look amazing.

Pay Attention To Where Your Artificial Heat Source Is

Something that not a lot of people know is that artificial heat can cause your vegetables to die. That is because the heat will dry them out no matter how much you are watering them. So, you have to make sure that you are choosing a sunny space that isn’t close to the heater or any form of intense heat.

All you need to do is be creative and utilise spaces like your window sills. Even if you have one, it is still enough to fit one or two plants on it. You can even make shelves, so they have more security and stability if the ledge is not that big. You can also utilise spaces such as your kitchen counters if they have enough sunlight.
